Did this photoshoot last summer for ClearlyContacts.ca’s Derek Cardigan Glasses Brand. We shot this on Granville island. If you live in Vancouver there’s a good chance you’ve seen some of these shots in Skytrain stations or on buses. PS check out the RAD designer himself.

Pinterest- the Inspiration Bible
Just wanted to share my Pinterest profile and emphasize how great this site is for inspiration and ideas for EVERYTHING, not just photography. From styling to do it yourself home projects to cute photos of baby hedgehogs, its a great place to organize and store visuals that interest you. This resource is a gold mind if you’re looking for new ideas for posing people, finding new props to work with or unique concepts for a typical lifestyle shoot. You can also upload photos to showcase your own work. This site is used mostly by women but it will be interesting to see a mix of ‘pins’ if more males join…
“Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard.
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.”
I have to warn you….if you join…you will spend COUNTLESS hours on pinterest just browsing from one pin to another which will lead to a million more.

Green Screen Photobooth for TD Canada Trust
This past weekend I worked for a marketing company which was promoting Retirement Savings Plans with TD Canada Trust. The concept was to start thinking of your dream retirement. A green screen was set up in a TD trailer and people could get their picture taken and printed with their chosen dream retirement destination. It was quite the challenge because A-Super small space B- Only used two lights!! I couldn’t get people far away enough from the green screen in order to prevent a subtle green glow around the hair. It was more obvious for people with lighter hair. Ideally I would want AT LEAST 4 lights for this set up if there was enough space. Most of the photos turned out great though considering the circumstances.
I would love to experiment more with green screen. My last green screen project was an INCREDIBLY BAD short film I shot in film school on a P2 camera if I remember correctly. I will include in the bottom just for laughs because it’s so bad its funny. haha (wow I can’t believe it managed to receive a whopping 145 views over the years!)
Anyways I took some pics of the set up below. I can’t include pictures of people that came through because I don’t own the rights to them but I got someone to snap a shot of me so you can see the gist of it.
Video of Kenny
This was a very spontaneous video. I was collaborating with a friend on a photoshoot and we got each model (our friends) to bring in a prop. Kenny brought his guitar. We were blown away by his skills so I had to record him.
This was all handheld using the built in mic of my 7D. Hence the super shaky moments & crappy audio quality.
I’m hoping to set up another (planned) video shoot with him, so stay tuned for that. :)
Done in two takes…roughly 10 minutes to film.

Imaging Expo 2012 in New Orleans
I had the privilege of heading down to New Orleans for the Imaging Expo 2012. I spent 5 incredible days in this energized lively city. 5 Days of learning, checking out new gadgets, listening to great speakers, eating amazing food and experiencing Bourbon St. I had the first day to wonder and explore the french quarter. Saw some great bands perform jazz on the streets and take photos. The best speakers in my opninion were Alex Buono & Joey L. Alex is cinematographer for SNL. He presented amazing tips, advice and resources on DSLR shooting…LOVE IT. Joey was on a whole other level of inspiration. I have been following him on social media for a while now so I obviously jumped at the opportunity to hear him speak at Imaging Expo. I found out at the talk that he grew up in Lindsay, Ontario which I didn’t know…only an hour away from my hometown Whitby, Ontario. He’s my age, lives in NY, is super successful and has travelled a lot. SO INSPIRATIONAL!!!! The take away from his talk that stuck with me is to always have personal projects on the go. Projects that allow you to establish your style and passion. Anyways I’m not good at writing and there’s probably many grammatical errors in this post so I’ll stop ranting and show you some pictures!
